Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it is time to embrace the holidays with open arms. For most families, this means coming together to decorate their homes and fill each room with Christmas Cheer.

But, it can seem that decorating for the holidays means the same old decorations each and every year. So what do you do if you are getting bored with your holiday decor? There are some easy ways to jazz up your interior design this holiday season, and here are some fun and easy decorating tips to try out this year.

Decorate Your Storage Areas

You most likely have a lot of “empty” space within your open storage areas around the house. For example, you may have areas that are just ready to be filled with decorations that you may not have thought of, such as the top of your cabinets, your cutlery hutch, baskets, or even around drawer pulls. These places can easily hold tiny ornaments, knick-knacks, and pieces of fake snow, glitter, and tinsel. Don’t be afraid to try new places and decorate the pieces in your home that don’t get much love during the rest of the year.

Don’t Forget Your Sense Of Smell

If you don’t have time for a full custom home inspiration this holiday season, don’t fret! There’s an easy way to bring a feeling of cozy to your home, and it is via your sense of smell. When creating a comfy, cozy, seasonal atmosphere, invest in scents. Whether it be lighting a few pine candles, baking some cookies right before your company comes over, or making some mulled wine on the stove, it is easy to make your home smell warm and inviting within seconds.

Select A Few Special Colors

Heading to the store to revamp your holiday decorations? Hold off from choosing something in every single color, and instead focus on buying things in the same color scheme. If you do want a few different colors, pick shades of your color scheme, or do one accent color with black and white.

This works exceptionally well if you are hosting a dinner party, where your place settings are all in black and white but you have a pop of red Christmas party favors.  Doing so looks chic and timeless, making it easy for your decorations to last for years to come.

Save Money And Go Natural

There’s no need to spend all of your money on holiday decorations when you can use eco-friendly and natural items for decoration. While Christmas trees are always the centerpiece for the season, don’t be afraid to use wreaths, garlands, flower bouquets such as poinsettias, pinecones, and/or branches with cranberry sprigs for a festive feel. To get these items at a cheap price, consider heading to your local Christmas tree farm and inquire if they have any clippings you can have for free. Chances are, you’ll strike gold and find a ton of different items you can use to decorate.

Decorate With Treats And Sweets

Get creative and decorate with candy and cookies all over your home! There are plenty of places where you can hang candy canes, sprinkle peppermints and chocolate, or place gingerbread houses and the little men and women that go with them. Decorating with sweets brings a unique look to your home, and what’s better is that you can create some family memories when baking and creating the goodies.

There is no right or wrong way to decorate your home for the holiday season. Feel free to use some of these unique interior design ideas and you’ll soon have a beautiful home to enjoy all season long.
